Below are the results and report.

120 pilots from around the globe came to partake of the second Ozone Laragne Open. There were a few good pilots and a few inexperienced pilots. All were welcome. All bar none had stunning flying conditions. Many were goal virgins and many made personal bests.

With the emphasis again on a safe, fun and friendly competition, the Ozone Chabre Open was organised as a Serial class event, with a handicap scoring system, favouring pilots flying on more stable, lower performance wings. This year saw the introduction of the X-Class, those pilots who compete a lot and withdrew from the handicap competition.

The top prize went to Stefan Werner aboard his Sigma 6. Stefan flew consistently well all week. Second was Dimitri Roman aboard his Aspen, and Third was Jon Collie aboard his DHV1-2 Sport. Jon Finished 10th overall in the non-handicapped scoring, a tremendous effort.

The second top prize went to Ruud Van der Heijden flying his Omega 6. Ruud was in the top 4 every day, hows that for consistency? Second was Mark Hayman on his Omega 6, and third Stefan Werner on his Sigma 6.

Matt Church Wins an Ozone Glider

The final night prizegiving, meal and party was made very interesting by the free prize draw for all pilots. Matt Church was the first name out of the hat and won a free glider. Chuffed to bits, he said "Last years competition was great. I tried a Mantra and bought one. Can I have the Mantra 2 when it comes out please?". There were many more prizes drawn, generously donated by Ozone.

Extra Terrestrial Activities

Throughout the week evening activities were organised. For the first four nights, Jocky Sanderson worked through the task debrief, using 3d track logs of the day. Every night ended with questions and answers.

Midweek the village of Ribiers, one of the sponsors of the comp, hosted a Pizza and Paella night in the town square. There was too much to eat, just like last year. Xavier Murillo went through a slide show of a trip to Bir in the Himalayas and the open air Disco went on 'till late.

One night Mark Hayman spoke about his rise in the British competition scene and his bid for the British team and world domination. Once he started talking it was hard to stop him; a very informative and enjoyable evening.

Next up were Ozone. The design and test team were put in front of a live audience and hammered with questions until blue in their faces.

On the first day off we all went to the North landing field to watch the Ozone test pilots test some gliders. The Green twins fell out of the sky doing tricks and the motor men buzzed about.
Mussles and chips were served up in the campsite later on, with a live band for dancing and entertainment.

Finally the final night party and prizegiving. The pilot's prize draw saw more prizes than you could shake a stick at. The disco went on until late, and we'll all be back next year. "We now have the remnants of a table cloth with the names of pilots wanting to sign up for next year" David Owen said, having told people that registration wouldn't be open again until December.
